RECITAL GUIDE

Our goal is to create a safe, fun, and positive experience for our dancers, family, and staff.

We thank you in advance for your compliance with these rules and guidelines, which will help us make our show successful and entertaining. â€‹â€‹

In this guide, we have tried to provide you with all the information you need about the recital.

UNDERGARMENTS

  • Undergarments: Girls should not wear panties under their costumes. If you wear a bra to school, you should wear one under your costume. Make sure the straps are not showing! You can find both nude bras and clear-strap bras at any dance store or Amazon. â€‹

  • Base Layer: If a student has multiple costumes, please make sure your dancer is wearing a nude leotard or appropriate base layer underneath their costume.

COSTUMES

  • Costumes: Write your dancer's name on every piece of their costume and shoes. This includes all parts of the outfit, such as the dress, pants, tops, skirts, etc.

  • Accessories: Ensure that all accessories, such as hats, gloves, shoes, hairpieces, and jewelry, are also labeled with your dancer's name. This helps prevent loss or mix-ups during the event.

Additional Tips:

  • Pack an emergency kit with extra hair ties, bobby pins, safety pins, and any makeup essentials.

  • Pack CLEAN food, such as carrots, apples, granola bars, goldfish, or popcorn. Do not bring chocolate, peanut butter, or messy snacks.

  • Pack coloring books for little Pre-Ballet and Baby Ballet, so they have fun backstage.

  • Encourage your dancer to keep their belongings organized in a dance bag, which should also be labeled with their name.

RECITAL APPEARANCE

  • Tights: Each routine has a specified assigned color and style of Capezio tights. If you did not order tights, they are available at Motion Dance Center.

  • Jewelry & Nails: No jewelry is to be worn. No nail polish or fake nails allowed!

  • Make-up: All dancers must wear makeup so that their facial features will show up under the bright stage lights. Babies and petites do not need eyeliner. Body or hair glitter is not allowed.

    • We ask that you apply bronzy eye shadow, black eyeliner, pink blush, and red lipstick. Older dancers, if you think your make-up looks pretty, you probably don't have enough on!

MDC COMPANY DANCERS

  • Each Company has been assigned to perform in both of the shows listed above. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT DANCERS BRING ALL COSTUMES AND ACCESSORIES. If necessary, dancers are more than welcome to stay at the venue after show 1 is finished.

  • ALL Dancers should arrive at the venue with the required hair and make-up complete. They should be dressed in their shoes and first costume.

ILLNESS

  • If you or your dancer feels ill prior to the event, PLEASE STAY HOME. We will understand if you cannot attend. We want our dancers and families to celebrate safely and comfortably.

RECITAL LINE-UPS

  • Programs will be given at the front lobby when doors open there you can find your recital line up.

BACKSTAGE

  • No parents are allowed backstage or in the backstage hallway.

  • Staff will bring dancers from the dressing rooms to the hallway for pickup once the show has concluded.

  • For the safety of all students, no photography is allowed backstage by anyone other than MDC STAFF.

AUDIENCE MEMBERS

  • We want all of the focus to be on the stage. Please be quiet during the show and turn your cellphones off.

  • Dancers should wear cover-ups over their costumes if they choose to sit in the audience after performing.

  • Please be courteous when entering and exiting the theater and only enter or exit between routines. Please follow all Hobby Center rules!

  • NO FOOD, DRINKS, STROLLERS, OR BALLOONS ARE ALLOWED IN THE THEATER. SMOKING/VAPING IS NOT PERMITTED.

VIDEOTAPING & PHOTOGRAPHY

  • The recital will be videotaped by DIGITAL ART. If you would like to purchase a recital video, please contact Magdalena at 956-909-8050.

STUDENT PICK-UP

  • Please wait on the hallway double doors for your child's name to be called.

  • Every parent must pick up their own dancer. Dancers will not be released to a friend's parent unless we are told ahead of time or via email.

  • WE KINDLY REQUEST THAT YOU WAIT UNTIL THE FINALE FOR PICK-UP. WE WILL NOT DISMISS ANY STUDENTS UNTIL THEN. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

RECITAL PHOTOSHOOT PICK-UP

  • Basic and Classic recital packages will be available for pickup at the recital venue immediately after the respective shows conclude.

  • For Premium packages, they will be available for pickup once the video editing is completed for both shows. We will notify you promptly once they are ready for collection.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing the memories captured during the recital with you. If we have overlooked anything, or if you have any questions, please let us know. We are looking forward to a great show!
